## Server ID vs. user ID vs. channel ID

Every Discord object — servers, users, channels, messages, roles — gets a snowflake ID: a 17–19 digit number. They all look the same, which is why pasting the wrong one into a bot config, OAuth redirect, or support ticket is a common fail. You don't need to memorize formats; you need to know which ID the task actually wants.

A server ID (guild ID in the API) always points at one community, even if the name or icon changes. A user ID always points at one account. A channel ID is narrower still — one text or voice channel inside a server. Use the table when you're unsure which to copy.

## How to copy a Discord server ID

Discord hides raw IDs until Developer Mode is on. Desktop / browser: User Settings → Advanced → Developer Mode. Mobile: Settings → Behavior → Developer Mode.

Then right-click (or long-press) the server icon in your server list and choose Copy Server ID. Paste that number into the lookup above — you don't need to open a channel first. Same flow works for user and channel IDs if you right-click those instead.

Paste a guild ID and you get public server details: name, approximate member count, creation date (decoded from the snowflake), description when available, and other fields Discord exposes for discoverable / public servers. Private servers won't resolve here — that's expected.
