Discord Spoiler Tag — Hide Text with ||Spoilers||
Free Discord spoiler tag generator. Wrap text in ||double pipes||, preview the hidden bar, and copy markup that works in Discord chat on desktop and mobile.
||Ending spoiler: the butler did it||Syntax: wrap any text in double pipes — ||like this||
Preview (click to reveal)
||https://…||). On desktop, highlight text → eye icon. Images: mark as spoiler before send. More formatting: Discord markdown hub.How the Discord spoiler tag works
A Discord spoiler tag hides text behind a black (or dark) bar until the reader clicks or taps it. The markdown is simple: put double pipe characters on both sides with no required spaces — ||like this||.
On Discord desktop and web you can also highlight text and click the eye icon in the formatting menu. Typing /spoiler before a message is another supported path on some clients. Spoilers inside code blocks are not hidden.
Spoiler images and links
For attachments, upload the image then click Mark as Spoiler (eye) before sending. You can also prefix a filename with SPOILER_ in some workflows. Links can be wrapped the same way as text: ||https://…||.
Server invite embeds generally cannot be fully hidden with spoiler tags. Prefer describing the invite in spoilered text if needed.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I make a spoiler on Discord?
Wrap the text in double pipes: ||your spoiler||. On desktop, highlight text and click the eye icon.
Why isn’t my spoiler hiding?
Use two pipes on each side (||), not one. Spoilers inside ``` code blocks stay visible. Don’t put spaces in a way that breaks the pair on some clients — ||text|| is safest.
Can I spoiler an image?
Yes on desktop/web: attach the image and click Mark as Spoiler before sending. Mobile support varies by app version.
Is this the same as small text or markdown bold?
No. Spoilers hide content. Bold uses **text**. Small chat text uses -# subtext — see the markdown hub.
